A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

December 18, 2009

Vicodin & Steroids

Editing my “happy cancer book” and trying to get all the little snatches of information into a coherent chapter-by-chapter storyline has been interesting, to say the least. A huge portion of it was written while I was doped up on Vicodin. As I’ve mentioned several times in this blog, I am pretty sensitive to aspirin, one chemotherapy drug after another, and Vicodin. The surgeon prescribed it to me after he inserted the port—the little plastic thingy-ma-bobber—into my good boob; the nurses administer chemotherapy medicines through that handy gadget.

Hey, I could call the port a thingy-ma-boober.

The second half of my book is being written in large part while I’m on steroids. There is no writer’s block going on while I’m hyped up on that stuff. I just hope the book makes sense when it comes out.

  1. I’ll wait to see how that turns out for you before I try the vicodin/steroids regime for my next National Novel Writing Month attempt! :)
