On Being An "Old Hag"
I had another appointment with the oncologist this morning in which I promptly complained about my 2-month (since taking Femara) libido problem.
He asked why I wasn’t doing Lupron yet. I told him, “My brain is incapable of making any more decisions.”
I asked him to remind me what Lupron would do to my body.
He replied, “It will essentially suppress your ovaries and take care of what little libido you have left.”
I’ve heard a woman’s sexual prime is in her forties. The doctor said I will be taking Femara for a minimum of five years. Sexual prime or Femara (and maybe saving my life)… these are choices?!
Look at it this way: in five years, your kids will be out of the house, which will be excellent timing for the end of Femara-induced celibacy (people with teenagers don’t have private time anyway, do they? You just have a medical reason to be in the same boat as the rest of us.)
Ummm…does your husband actually read your blog?….Just wondering…
Debbie,
Five years seems like FOREVER.
“Femara-Induced Celibacy”… that would have been a great title.
Yes, husband does read the blog faithfully. It’s how we communicate… HA!
Sometimes he thinks I’m hilarious and other times he says, “You can’t say that” to which I reply, “Watch me.”
