I’m Hearing Voices
I’m hearing voices… the only problem is, they’re singing, late, late at night. I was up until 4:00 this morning because every time I’d try to make my way toward bed, another phrase (to a new song I started composing a few weeks ago) would run through my head.
Rather than fight it (“Make the voices stop!”) I decided to run with it and enter the notes in the computer before they all left my brain for Nashville or Hollywood.
Yes, write them down first, get your copyright on them, then send them to Nashville or Hollywood. Make a gazillion bucks. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Abel,
Just how much is a gazillion bucks?
I might not even have to lather, rinse, repeat!

Obviously, “gazillion” is a highly technical mathematical term for a….um, *load* of something.
Debbie,
You know Abel and his mathematical obsession! Is gazillion even a real word?
All I know is, it would be a lot more convenient if the singing voices would wake me up in the morning instead of keep me up at night.
I’m on the way to the piano right now to fix a few measures.
Great job singing Sunday morning, by the way.

Not squillions but abut 10% of people hear voices at some point in their lives so thats quite a few. I do.
Good for you for not fighting them – that’s often when people get into difficulty.
There’s many a famous artist, singer eg Brian Wilson, John Fruscianti…..who hear/heard voices.
There are hundreds of songs in which people sing about voices…some have been big hits and made a few quid/bucks/dinero for their writer/ performer and in many genres too.
Would love to hear yours too, go for it…
Kevin,
I’m not even sure what song that was back in 2010 that I was working on. I usually compose in spurts… work for several hours/days and then leave it alone for a while.
Do you compose music?
Well, if listening to voices works for people like Brian Wilson, etc., I should try to have them more often, eh?
