My Hair
Ever since my hair grew back in dark gray/white and curly after being bald for so long from the chemotherapy, I haven’t felt like myself. I stare at my reflection and have a conniption every time:
“Who are you and what have you done with my prior self?!”
I’m finally being able to look in the mirror and see a glimpse of me.
Not only that, I put styling glue in my newly washed hair, comb my bangs to the side, brush the sides forward, and walk out the door with better things to do than spend time blow-drying, curling, and hair-spraying.
Amen, sistah! This is how I feel about showers. With two kids under 5, something’s gotta give and lately it’s been showers. I tell myself it’s good for the planet, too, but really there are just a million things I’d rather do than daily shampoo. Baseball cap, here I come.
So glad chemo kicked your cancer’s butt (sorry it kicked yours, too, while you were going through it). You have a great writing style–smart snippets that give a pause or a smile. Nice meeting you at Just Write!
Best,
Janna
