Lilly
This morning, during my second-to-last Herceptin infusion at the hospital, my sister Brenda (a nurse in the cardiac wing) stopped by to buy my book.
After my treatment, I went to say goodbye to Brenda and said hello to Lilly.
Lilly was a patient. An older lady, her eyes sparkled. There she was in the hospital bed, reading my book. She piped up, “This book is fabulous and I must have my own copy. I love the way you write… the words you choose and the way you describe what happened to you. Hi, I’m Lilly.”
I got choked up and said, “I’m so happy you like it and you’re going to make me cry.” I was supposed to make my readers “laugh and cry” according to my Facebook page and there Lilly was, making me weepy.
My husband walked around the corner. Lilly waved her hands in the air and said to me, “Hm, he’s cute.”
We visited for twenty minutes. Lilly leaned forward to say goodbye. “Ken, it was nice to meet you.”
I thought, “How did she know his name?” Oh yeah, she read about him.
I think I like being an author. You meet such wonderful people.
thats really cool :)
How do I get me one of these books? Seems like everyone’s got one but me. Poor Abel.
I don’t have one yet, either. And I haven’t gotten my invitation to any book signings yet. Poor Deb! (And poor Marie, when her friends make such blatant pleas on the internet for God and everyone to see!)
Abel & Debbie,
Well, let’s get on the stick there, poor people. My book launch is Wednesday (in Coupeville) from 4-6 at the Coupeville Public Library. FREE FOOD. Door prizes.
The book is also available in Mount Vernon at the Diamond Shoppe.
I can also bring you one.
Poor Marie is not so poor, just overwhelmed at how many people have already bought a copy!
