A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

(Glycemic) Load of Hooey

Since Haley, my naturopathic doctor, has been getting after me for eating too much sugar (according to her, not me), I’ve been trying to figure out the “glycemic load” of foods lately and am admittedly, getting a little obsessed. I got out my How to Prevent and Treat Diabetes With Natural Medicine book and looking over the graph, apparently, one cup of full-fat ice cream does not raise your blood sugar as drastically as half a cup of Grape Nuts (not that I eat them… the “nuts” I mean). Who knew?

I’ve always eaten fruits, vegetables, oatmeal, millet and stuff like that… now I have to worry about how much and what type of vegetable? Good grief, sometimes I think it’s all a bunch of hooey.
