A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

Breast Reconstruction – Take 36

Today, I went to join my writing group in Coupeville for the first time in months. What can I say? I’ve got three kids, a husband, a huge yard to maintain, housework (to ignore), breast reconstruction surgery to recover from…

The whole way there–during my one-hour drive–I felt like screaming out the window, “I’m back in the saddle, baby.” I looked forward to seeing my fellow writers.

It was finally my turn to stand up and speak about what I had been working on. I puffed out my chest a bit and proclaimed, “I got a boob job.”

You’d think that I’d start using a filter on my mouth one of these days, but, apparently not.

  1. Marie, I am so happy you are doing so well. I just love checking out your blog every to see what’s new in your life.

    claudia mills

  2. Rats, I always miss the good stuff. Hey, when is your next book coming out? Will there be belly photos? Okay, just kidding.

  3. Claudia,

When are the three of us going to meet? I feel like I know you and Bobby by now.

I hope you are both enjoying your summer.

  4. Dick,

    Belly photos? Oh, shudder.

Actually, the plastic surgeon’s assistant took before pictures of me and I’m sure there will be after photos.

That’s a scary thought… having those suckers land in the wrong hands, eh?

Can hardly wait to see you and Sarah again. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

P.S. Book Two is being worked on; not sure of the release date yet.

  5. Happy Sunday Marie,
Bobby & I live in Edmonds. We would love to meet you sometime. Do you ever come down this far? Where do you live? Our car drives both ways. Hope all is well. Love your blog.

  6. Claudia,

Isn’t Edmonds near Lynnwood? That’s only 45 minutes or so from me.

I’m probably going to Coupeville on Wednesday… guess you guys don’t ever head that way, do you?
We could meet for dinner there or something: the Front Street Grill is really good.

Otherwise, just pick a day and we’ll meet in Lynnwood or something.

Email me via the “contactmariedehaan” at the bottom of the blog screen and we’ll set something up.

Otherwise, Sarah can contact me through Facebook.

Thanks for all the encouragement you give me for the blog. It makes me happy.
