A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

Breast Reconstruction – Take 31

Sleep. It’s a wonderful thing.

I had a horrible time Friday, Friday night, and Saturday morning for the simple fact that I was running on an average of two hours of sleep per night. I was able to get some extra sleep last night. But, alas, all the peppermint and red raspberry tea I’ve been drinking to combat this confounded nausea caused by the pain meds kicked in this morning and of course, I had to get up to go pee.

It felt good to get up and stretch. For some reason, my body (calves particularly) keeps “seizing” up and I have to force myself to relax and/or move around to prevent a really sore back and right shoulder. I already have a sore “boob” (which is really my stomach) and abdomen… pretty soon, I’m going to run out of pain-free body parts.

I walked around the living room (I’ve been sleeping on the couch during the night so I don’t wake Ken up with my occasional moaning and groaning) and went to open the drapes. The next thing I knew, I fairly ran to get my camera, and went flying out the door. We all know this is fairly miraculous when you’ve been cut open “stem to stern”–so to speak–as I explained to an editor friend via Facebook last night.

This picture was the result.

Go me. Go me. There’s light at the end of the tunnel yet.
