A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

Breast Cancer Awareness #5

09_07_2013_cancer_funny_breast_cancer_awareness_seattleToday is Breast Cancer Awareness Day, so it  is time for me to make my list of reasons that I am very aware of breast cancer:

1. I am starting to hate the month of October because of how much breast cancer is talked about.

2. I hate pink. Used to like it and wear it… can’t remember the last time I put it on.

3. I still cringe when I hear of another woman that is diagnosed with breast cancer because I know what she is going to go through.

4. I still can hardly touch Mentos as I associate them with nausea caused by chemotherapy.

5. I have not had Haagen-Dazs chocolate mint ice cream since using it for nausea caused by chemotherapy; however, I have no problem eating Rocky Road.

6. I mark every single holiday that I’ve been able to enjoy since I thought I’d be long dead by now.

7. Ken, my husband, is always trying to get me to read all of these articles about women or men that are dealing with cancer and sometimes, I can’t do it.

8. My hair is now the longest it has ever been because I’m so thankful to have hair again.

9. I have lots of new friends, for the simple fact that cancer affects so many people.

10. I am happy for every new day that I am given.

  1. I am loving all the positive remarks here, you’ve come a long way. O, and Rocky Road is the BEST!

  2. Bobby,

Rocky Road is the best. Although, Cherry Vanilla isn’t bad. Or Vanilla Swiss Almond. Pineapple Coconut is right up there, too. Um… where was I? Was I talking about anything important? I got a little sidetracked there.

Oh. Positive remarks. Yes, I’m trying to be a bit more positive. Last month, I was upset because a friend of mine that has breast cancer was telling me about her friend that just found out she had terminal cancer and about two or three emails later, her friend had already died. Kind of puts the survivor’s guilt into hyper drive.

    CANCER SUCKS!

Which brings me back to: every day is definitely a gift from God, eh?

Take care. When are we going out for dinner? Or movie? Or drive to Leavenworth?
