Cancer Has Its Perks
While I wouldn’t say being diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer has exactly been a picnic this past year, I do know that Ken and I would not have made it to Maui for our 20th anniversary if I hadn’t.
You see, we went to Maui for our honeymoon in 1990 and made a promise to each other that we would go again on our 25th anniversary.
Well, when you are handed a diagnosis of advanced breast cancer and an 8/9 on the Nottingham Grade (a tool that measures the prognosis and severity of that said cancer), it doesn’t instill much confidence in a person to live, much less travel the globe.
Here we are at the Drums of the Pacific Luau, whooping it up on the actual day of our anniversary. I don’t know if it’s disrespectful or not to say that “Cancer Has Its Perks” but I’ll take every little ray of sunshine I can get.
