Ambush Makeover
For breakfast this morning, I took out a grapefruit and chopped it in half. Not a big deal, except it finally clicked in my chemo brain that grapefruit is no longer restricted; seems the lowly fruit interferes with certain medications, Lapatinib being one of them, and I haven’t taken that for months.
I took my coveted half of a grapefruit to the living room and decided to see what’s on early morning television.
The Today Show was featuring a blip called “The Ambush Makeover” where they took two dowdy-looking women off the street and transformed them into a sight to behold: highlights, haircuts, fancy clothes, and nice makeup.
As I sat chomping my grapefruit, I thought, “Those women are so lucky. I wish someone would overhaul me.”
Then again, I have been ambushed by cancer.
I’ve gone from being a fake blond with lush lashes and eyebrows to being a completely hairless woman with an all-over body rash. Today, I have really short, curly gray hair, eyebrows and eyelashes, and only a few patches of a rash. Life is good.
