A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

That’s Not Something You Think Every Day #1

I planted a “Coral Bark” Japanese Maple in our front yard on Monday and couldn’t help thinking to myself, I wonder which one of us is going to die first?

I want my happy, peppy thoughts back. Tried pot twice (didn’t really like it), becoming a raging alcoholic is probably not a good idea, sugar’s bad stuff, chocolate doesn’t like me…

Let’s see, what other vices do people resort to to make them happy?

I know. I think I’ll go rototill something.

  1. Marie, I believe I may have a similar addiction to my mower and weedwhacker !!!!!

So did I just read in a post or two back that you we’re sore after your last rototilling experience ??? Easy for me to say (since I just sat down after mowing grass), but easy does it !!!

  2. Hey you, no dark dreary thoughts….5 years will be here before you know it and although it doesn’t entirely subside it does recede further and further into the background….never thought I’d get there but it does happen – I promise

  3. Hey Vern,
Sorry I didn’t make it today…couldn’t get there by three and then was in Burlington at five o’clock…smack dab in the middle of all your lessons.

And ditto on what Ria said! Love you and keep your chin up!

  4. Coral bark maples are my favorite!

Praying your happy, peppy thoughts will soon return–remember, “to everything there is a season…”

I’ve been having a similar problem since my recent “decade” birthday–although my thoughts are: “Where did all those neck wrinkles come from?” and “When did I start sounding so much like my mother?”

  5. Carol,

I miss my weed-whacker. It broke a few years back, so think it’s time to look for a new one.

I only allow myself to rototill for about 10-20 minutes and every two days or so, so hopefully, the soreness will go away.

    Have a great weekend.

    -Marie

  6. Ria,

Thanks for the cheering up. It would be more fun if you were doing it in person over a cup of hot tea or possibly chocolate.

Then, we could stroll around the yard and look at the Mt. Bluett, primroses, Lady’s Mantle…

  7. Vern,

Don’t worry about it. It’s not like you don’t have 800 things going on at once every day.

Don’t work too hard this weekend.

    -Marie

  8. Debbie,

    Happy birthday!

Hey, I like your mother, so that’s a good thing.

By the way, I love that “Say Yes To Carrots” stuff you gave me. It smells good, it works great, and it’s not full of chemicals. Where did you get it?

    -Marie

  9. True confessions–I think I found “Say Yes to Carrots” at Target, although I’m sure you can get it at the Food Co-op–in the beauty area, not next to the $8 cabbage.

I like my mom, too–I just wish her voice didn’t keep coming out of my mouth. (It’s worse when I start channeling my grandma….)
