A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

October 1, 2011

Out of The Mouths of Babes

Yesterday, my friend, Karin, and I were talking while her 11-year-old daughter, Anna, listened.

“Yeah, this medical doctor I’m reading right now figures cancer patients shouldn’t eat meat, dairy, or sugar,” I told Karin. “I don’t know if it’s a bunch of bunk or not, but I am trying to eat lots of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. I’ve got to get some of my weight off.”

“Are you sure you’re getting enough protein?” Karin asked.

“No, I’m not sure. Staying away from sugar’s probably a good idea for me, though. It makes me sick. For the rest of it, I don’t know what the right answer is.”

“You know what you should do?” Anna piped up. “You should eat ten vegetables a day and when you’re done with all of them, you should have one cookie.”

Sounds like that Anna is one smart cookie herself.
