Hiking Fragrance Lake in the Pacific Northwest on August 6, 2017

Dear Benefactor,

Three years ago, I did this hike with my husband and two very close friends.

Life seemed so easy back then. Sure, I had gone through cancer, but I survived that and slowly, slowly built my stamina back up after that long, long year and a half of chemotherapy back in 2009-2010.

As you know, first there was the whole celiac debacle. Another setback. That was on top of the nervous breakdowns caused by flashbacks to my past. Now, I’m dealing with a frozen shoulder.

Sometimes, I feel like I’m 53 going on 83.

I promised you I would go on another hike and I will by the end of the year if it kills me.

Sincerely,

Marie
