A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

Letter #7 To My Benefactor

02_13_2013_cancer_funny_hiking_sugarDear Benefactor,

In reading over my last letter to you, it may sound like I’m putting the “Chatty Cathy” down for telling me to eat more raw food and stay away from sugar. I’m really not. Who am I to judge her? I got an email from her yesterday (yes, we exchanged email addresses… what can I say? My husband, Ken, says I make friends just about anywhere) telling me that she made it all the way up to the lake on her first try.

I, on the other hand, have yet to make it to the lake this year. It is pathetic. I made it to the sign advertising the lake on my first trip, to the big tree with the tons of moss on it during my second trip, up the hill past that big tree on my third trip, about halfway between the sign and the lake on the fourth trip. This week, I have to make it to that silly lake. Wish me luck.

Maybe I should think about eating that raw food and no sugar like my Chatty Cathy friend. It sure seems to give her stamina. Besides that, so many people tell me that cancer feeds on sugar. What I don’t get is, if that were really true, wouldn’t about 95% of the population have cancer? Or do you have to have the cancer in your body first and it then feeds on the sugar? It’s a dilemna to me.

Well, I hope you have a great week, wherever you are.

Sincerely,

Marie

  1. Kyle,

Ah. I just figured out who this is. First, I’m all in a panic thinking, OH NO, here comes the spam. But, it’s Kyle.

You did a great job for me this past month and I appreciate all your hard work. Hm. I wonder if you’ll even be able to see this reply or not. I’ll get the hang of this website stuff yet. Have a great week.

  2. Vern,

Thanks. You know I can’t do anything (well) without your approval, so I’m glad you like it. I still have a few things to finish up, but I’m getting closer. Woot-woot.

  3. 1. Have cancerous cells.
    2. Enter sugar. Cancer cells say,”yum, yum! Let’s grow!”
    3. Immune system tries to start a fight, but cancer is bigger, like a big bully, trying to beat up the good guys.
    4. Enter vegetables. Immune system has some friends to help with the fight. But the sugar has to get scared off before they have a chance.

That’s how my puny brain understands it. I am NOT a vegetarian. I am a supporter of protein and vegetables. If there is a bag of chips in my house, I will eat it all in one day (chocolate chips, too!) and feel like the insides of a garbage can after it, so what I KNOW doesn’t always translate into what I do. Ugh.

  4. Bon,

You crack me up. My brain thinks like yours does. I still remember my naturopath, Haley, visiting me at home. We were plant-swapping or something. The next thing I knew, we were at Snow Goose having Maple Nut ice cream. I said, “Hey Haley, thought I wasn’t supposed to eat sugar. Yay! I have arrived.” She just laughed. And kept eating her ice cream, of course.

I try to eat healthy most of the time and not stress too much over the rest of it. The stress can kill you just as fast as the sugar can, don’t you think?
