A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

December 28, 2012

Letter #3 To My Benefactor

Dear Benefactor,

You know those Keen hiking boots you bought me? Well, I took them with me to
Marina, California and hiked along the beach almost every day. I only
had one little mishap when the ocean tried to take me out, Keens and
all.

Now, I’m trying to work up the courage to put them back on my feet and go
into the woods. However, I’ve let my bear fear and cougar fear get the
best of me. Maybe the bears would be sleeping this time of year? With my
bad luck, I might accidentally wake one up.

In addition to the boots, may I be so bold as to ask for your graciousness
in buying me some “fear management” sessions with a psychiatrist? Either
that, or you could come hiking with me. Just be sure to pack your gun
in case we run into any trouble.

Oh yeah, I still don’t know who you are.

Sincerely,

Marie de Haan
