Letter #15 To My Benefactor
Dear Benefactor,
Just because I haven’t written you since June of 2014 does not mean that I have not been hiking.
I even brought the wonderful shoes you bought me to Maui with me when my husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. He thought I was nuts, but I didn’t care.
Here we are hiking the Waihe’e Ridge Trail in the rain. It was one of the sketchiest hikes I’ve ever been on. I don’t know if you’ve ever read my book, but in the ending where I talk about standing at the precipice? That was this hike. We were right at the edge of a cliff that went down for a very long ways. (Looking on the bright side, not once did I think of a cougar or a bear.)
As you can tell, I’m alive; I’ve managed to make it through that precipice called cancer and this sketchy hike.
I hope you are doing well.
Sincerely,
Marie
