Letter #14 To My Benefactor

None of them are having a bad hair day….

Dear Benefactor,

I promised you on February 5, 2014 that I would go hiking soon.

In June, I packed my Keens into my backpack and brought them to Oregon with me. I’ve noticed that these wonderful boots you bought me come along on every vacation now—even Maui—since I’m better at remembering to take them back home with me.

Ken and I visited his cousin, Arie, and Arie’s wife, Tineke, in Amity and they made us, I mean, they invited us to go hiking with them. We hiked for three hours and I thought I was going to die. I am out of shape. I couldn’t move for three days afterward. It was beautiful, though. We saw at least six waterfalls. Probably why they call the place Silver Falls.

As you can tell by this picture, I was having a very bad hair day. Then again, I shouldn’t complain. I am still alive and actually have hair on my head.

Sincerely,

Marie

  1. We had a wonderfull day and enjoyed being together for a while. Never thought it was that hard for you Marie. We are proud that you did it and made it all to the end.

  2. Arie,

It was a fun day. I’m pretty proud of myself, too, ha! Maybe someday Ken and I can come visit you in Holland and we can go biking and hiking.
