A Humorous Look at the Bright Side of Cancer... and There Is One

March 15, 2014

Dear Fran Drescher #2

Dear Fran,

So, how was your week? It’s been at least two weeks since my first letter to you.

To be honest, I’ve been a bit stressed out. Yesterday, I had to get a blood test to check for “tumor markers.” Not exactly your average trip into town.

You see, I was supposed to see my oncologist back in December for my six-month follow-up. Here it is, March already, and I finally have an appointment with him for Tuesday morning. We will go over my blood test then.

I wonder how many more years have to pass before I will stop tiptoeing through life waiting for the BOMB to go off (again) and find out that I have cancer. Do you ever feel like that?

To try to prevent that bomb from dropping, I’ve cut out dairy, chocolate, gluten, and most sugar (all the yummy foods that seem to hate me). I hope my blood is happy because of it.

Wish me luck on Tuesday.

Best friends always,

Marie

  1. Hi Wilf and Lydia,

Thanks. I know I should be a little trusting and stop worrying so much. Instead of doing those two noble things, I totally fell off the wagon yesterday and today and ate all kinds of crap. Good thing I’m not into alcohol or I’d be totally snockered right now. :)

    Have a great week.

    -Marie
