Score Four Wars Continue

Michael: 9 wins Me: 0 wins So much for kicking Michael’s hiney… I’m thinking of blaming it on chemo brain, but isn’t that about done by now?

Time to Party!

I had my last Herceptin treatment this morning. The nurses rolled out the bubbles and cranked the “going-away” music. My driver took me out to lunch to celebrate; we’ve been giddy all day. Is the next 10 years too long to celebrate? Nah. Life’s good.

Me & My Big Mouth

My husband was talking to Joanne (the woman from church who wants five books and a book-signing party) and she said to him, “I love Marie’s blog. She has no filters.” Joanne, the truth is, I used to have filters and they have since been eaten away by the chemo drugs.

Chemo Hair

I woke up to dogs barking and had had enough. Our dog, Lexie, and her boyfriend, Tex, from down the road, barked at each other on opposite sides of the fence most of the night. Just how long are dogs in heat anyway? I rolled out of bed, threw on some sweats, and yelled at […]

Happy Birthday, Dear Driver

I knew cancer had taken over my life when I looked forward to the Herceptin infusions just to see my closest friends. One of my regular drivers has a birthday today. We have two Mallard Ice Cream cones with our names on them (I mean some organic carrots and beet juice to buy at the […]

My Hair

Ever since my hair grew back in dark gray/white and curly after being bald for so long from the chemotherapy, I haven’t felt like myself. I stare at my reflection and have a conniption every time: “Who are you and what have you done with my prior self?!” I’m finally being able to look in the […]
