Cancer Survivorship-1
I always hear the term “Cancer Survivorship” and think to myself, What does that even mean? I know all about survivor’s guilt.
You may remember that a few years ago, I spoke at the Pierce County Cancer Survivorship Conference. I donated a few of my books to this worthy cause and began to get requests for speaking to local cancer support groups.
When I was first asked to speak, I immediately said, “Of course I will.” Then, the doubt began to set in. What would I say? I’m a writer, not a speaker. Who wants to hear me blather on and on? Then, I realized, it’s not about me. It’s about so many people—unfortunately—going through cancer. Just like me.
I spoke again today to a group of wonderful people. We laughed. We cried. We complained. And celebrated our survivorship together.
We loved having you at our group yesterday and so appreciate the time you took to come down and share your story of encouragement.
Looking forward to having you at the Pierce County Cancer Survivorship Conference in August!
Warmly,
Tamara
Tamara,
Thank you so much for your kindness and welcoming nature. Same goes for your group. Everyone there was very gracious. I had a great time—as great as a time as you can have dealing with this horrible disease called cancer—hearing their stories, their frustrations, and yes, their funny experiences. You know which funny experiences I’m talking about. :)
Take care and we’ll be in touch about the conference in August.
