Breast Reconstruction – Take 4
I really need to build up my stamina in case I do go through with getting a breast reconstruction (when I’m not hyperventilating about the whole subject). I get winded just going to the mailbox. It’s not like we have a long driveway, either. Therefore, I have taken up hiking.
Even if I don’t go through with the surgery, I refuse to look like a frump in a bathing suit. If hiking isn’t a way to build stamina or lose weight, I don’t know what is.
On Thursday, it took me seventy-five minutes just to make it to the sign that advertised Fragrance Lake. I’m proud of the simple fact that I did not have a heart attack along the way. It was kinda iffy there for a while…
Hey, I know where that sign is at. It’s no mean feat just to get to that elevation. Did you go out to the viewpoint? Keep up the good work!
Abel,
Made it halfway between the sign and Fragrance Lake today in the same amount of time as it took me to make it to the sign Thursday.
Next time, all the way to the lake.
The Oyster Dome is my goal for the end of the summer; heard it was a hard hike.
Where do you and Rachel go? All over?
You’ll make Oyster Dome–and it’s worth it, too!
Rachel and I do go all over. We haven’t really gotten out for much of a hike yet this year, although we did do some waterfalls in Oregon this past weekend.
Sauk Mountain is one of our favorites, if you’re looking for a good hike after Oyster Dome.
Abel,
I’ve done Sauk Mountain a few times and think it’s beautiful there.
Isn’t Oyster Dome harder than Sauk?
I wouldn’t say it’s harder, just longer. There is more elevation gain, but it’s spread out over a longer hike, so I think it’s a wash, myself. You can hike both back-to-back and tell me what you think. :)
