Dear Fran Drescher #13
Dear Fran,
I have good news.
You know the little plan I have to get the two of us on the Ellen show so that we can encourage others going through cancer? I may have found someone to help us with this noble quest.
His name is Mike McNeff.
I met Mike years ago while I was in the midst of that horrible chemotherapy and trying to write a book all at the same time. He was a fellow writer.
We met for breakfast this morning and he asked me when I was going to meet you. I told him that I was still waiting for that great moment. I further said that I couldn’t arrange for you and me to go on the Ellen show together, but explained it would be better if someone else sent her a video about me. He said he would get right on it.
If anyone can do it, Mike can. He’s been in law enforcement for forty years. He’s led SWAT teams and drug enforcement agents. What does all this have to do with anything? He’s a go-getter, a rough-and-tumble hard-working man, and all-around good egg. I have all confidence in him.
While I have you here, I had another great idea for this episode of ours: Because I have been having issues with lymphedema lately, I feel a kinship with Kathy Bates. Did you know that she had breast cancer several years ago, ended up with lymphedema, and is now a spokesperson for Lymphatic Education & Research Network? Surely, she can contribute to the show, don’t you think?
I will keep you updated on Mike’s progress.
Best friends always,
Marie
