Letter #50 To My Benefactor

July 23, 2020

Dear Benefactor,

I haven’t been hiking, but I told you in my last letter that I was doing a lot of gardening. Tons and tons of steps trying to get my yard back into shape.

I’ve also been having to wear some pretty wacky hair styles to get this yard work done. Hard to concentrate when your hair is whipping around your face.

Well, no more ugly pony tails and strange hairstyles for me. I’m so over this shoulder problem. Let the normal living begin.

The day this picture was taken included makeup, curled hair, a bra—ahem—a great visit with a friend, a trip to Red Robin, and maple nut ice cream.

It doesn’t get much better than that.

I’m getting closer and closer every day to that hike I told you I was going to do before the year is out.

That’s Not Something You Read Every Day #14

Now that I finally made it through the (second) MRI intact, it’s time to get my records ready for my follow-up appointment with the orthopedic surgeon coming up on August 4.

Today, I called the imaging place down in Kirkland and explained that I needed the report as soon as possible. The nice woman explained that I needed to join the patient portal and I would have instant access to it.

Easy peasy.

Not so easy is interpreting the dumb thing:
“Coronal proton…sagittal and axial fat-saturated…prominent intrasubstance and bursal surface hyperintense signal…anterior supraspinatus tendon…intrasubastance fluid signal focus…teres minor……”

That’s Not Something You Hear Every Day #31

July 16, 2020

Yeah, I might be a little addicted to hydrangeas. (And bad hairstyles until my left shoulder heals up all the way.)

I guess it’s better than being addicted to booze or drugs.

And really, can a person have too many hydrangeas?

That’s Not Something You See Every Day #13

When I finally got through with my MRI—successfully this time as opposed to last time—I texted my husband four rapid memes right in a row as my driver drove my sleepy body home. (Valium is a wonderful thing.)

What more could a person want to help celebrate this momentous occasion than Jesus, some random exuberant guy, and SpongeBob?

That’s Not Something You Think Every Day #14

Boy, according to this blog post I did back in 2016, I sure am afraid of a lot of things.

The sad thing is, I’m talking all boldly in that post about how I’m not going to be afraid anymore. Instead, I have added rattlesnakes and MRIs to the list.

Wish me luck today y’all. That Valium better knock me out.
